What is the CHECT Dare-A-Thon?

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, charities are finding it increasingly difficult to raise funds.  Many charities have been forced to reduce or stop services at a time when vulnerable members of society need them most.

At CHECT we are facing a situation where over half of our income from fundraising events this year may simply disappear due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We gratefully rely on the help from our supporters to survive – and you’ve been incredible. However, we now need you more than ever to ensure we are able to continue to provide the help and support valued by so many individuals and families.

Throughout August and September, we invite you to join us in our new and exciting fundraiser – the CHECT “Dare-A-Thon”.  Your friends and family can get involved, too – by making a donation in order to ‘dare’ you to do something you have never done before!

How do I get started?

Step 1:  Download your Dare-A-Thon fundraising pack.

Step 2: Set up a JustGiving fundraising page via our JustGiving Dare-A-Thon event set-up page.

Step 3: Invite all your friends and family to suggest a dare for you, on making a donation to your page

Step 4: Complete your dares throughout August and September – don’t forget to share your videos and photographs with the #CHECTdare hashtag, or email them in to us so that we can share on our social media to inspire others and show off your talents.

Finally, at the end of the event we will send you a special Dare-A-Thon certificate to celebrate your achievements!

If for any reason you do not want to set up a fundraising page, please encourage your friends, family and work colleagues to donate to our JustGiving Dare-a-Thon Campaign page. You will also find sponsorship forms in your pack.

How many dares can I do?

As many as you like!  There are no rules, apart from the Government guidelines on social distancing.  Please remember, we want you to have as much fun and to be as creative with your dares as possible – but please avoid anything that makes anyone feel uncomfortable or which may pose a risk to someone’s safety.

Those who know you best will be able to think of the most suitable dares for you but here are a few ideas to get you started…

For children:

  • Swap clothes with someone for a day
  • Crack an egg into each of your shoes and put them back on, without socks
  • Act like an animal for a day

For adults:

  • Peel a banana with your feet
  • Allow a member of your household to give you a home hairstyle
  • Balance a spoon on your nose for one minute

Thank you and the best of luck with your #CHECTdare!
