Retinoblastoma resources for healthcare professionals
The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust has a range of information and publications available to help healthcare professionals at every stage of supporting a patient with retinoblastoma, from diagnosis to adulthood. We hope you’ll find what you need in the sections below but if you have any questions at all, please do get in touch – we’re here to help.
GPs
- Information about retinoblastoma for GPs
- Red reflex test poster
- Direct ophthalmoscopy tutorial (provided with the kind permission of Moorfields Eye Hospital)
Optometrists
- Information about retinoblastoma for optometrists
- Opticians’ Protocol
- Optical Assistants’ Protocol
- E-learning modules on Opticians’ Protocol and retinoblastoma
Our opticians protocol, supported by the College of Optometrists and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, addresses current delays in diagnosis of eye cancer. It states that all staff working in an optical practice should be aware of the main signs of retinoblastoma and offers clear information on what action to take if a parent is concerned by any of these main symptoms.
