Members’ events

CHECT members’ days

We hold members’ days throughout the year in regions around the UK to give families the chance to meet others affected by retinoblastoma, chat to CHECT staff and enjoy a day out away from the stressful hospital environment. The events take place at popular attractions, making them a fun family day out for all – previous venues have included a zoo, farm and space centre! Our members’ days are subsidised, helping to keep costs low.

On these days we also hold our CHECT Champions awards ceremonies – a great chance to nominate your little one for the bravery they have shown during their, or their siblings’, retinoblastoma journey.

York Members’ Day

SUNDAY 7 OCTOBER 2018
JORVIK VIKING CENTRE

We’d like to invite you to our members’ day at the Jorvik Viking Centre in York. The centre is a groundbreaking visitor experience where you take a journey through the reconstruction of Viking-Age streets and experience life as it would have been in 10th century York.

It is a great way to meet other families who are being or have been treated for Rb and to nominate a child for a CHECT Champion Award.

Arrive at 11am for an interactive tour of the centre. Lunch is at 12:30pm – please bring your own. After lunch will be the presentation of our CHECT Champion Awards. The day will be rounded up with a Sagas Workshop where you will learn stories of gods, giants and heroes in Viking society.

COLCHESTER ZOO

We’d like to invite you and your family to our members’ day at Colchester Zoo. With more than 270 species to see, set in 60 acres of beautiful parkland and lakes, your day out at Colchester Zoo will be action packed!

It is a great way to meet other families who are being or have been treated for Rb and to nominate a child for a CHECT Champion Award.

The zoo opens at 9:30am and we will all meet in the Kalahari Theatre at 12pm for a picnic lunch – please bring your own. Lunch will be followed by the presentation of our CHECT Champion Awards.
