The Great North Run 2026 is the world’s biggest and most iconic half marathon, drawing 60,000 runners to its famous point‑to‑point route from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields. Participants begin in Newcastle before heading over the Tyne Bridge, through Gateshead, and onto a final, crowd‑filled mile along the South Shields seafront. The course blends fast downhill sections with some tougher uphill stretches between miles 8–12, all fuelled by incredible crowd support, on‑course entertainment, and the unforgettable fly‑past from the Red Arrows.

Celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2026, the event offers a festival‑like atmosphere from start to finish, from the famous oggy‑oggy‑oggy chants to the buzzing coastal finish line. Whether you’re chasing a PB or soaking up one of the UK’s best‑supported running events, the Great North Run delivers a memorable experience every step of the way.

The Hampton Court Half Marathon 2026 offers a fast, flat and scenic course ideal for both PB‑chasers and runners preparing for a spring marathon. Starting in Thames Ditton, the route follows riverside paths and well‑maintained tracks, taking participants past the historic Hampton Court Palace and through the picturesque Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. Runners also enjoy the iconic three‑mile stretch of the Barge Walk beside the River Thames, making this one of South West London’s most scenic and enjoyable half marathons.

With closed-road sections, friendly marshals, pacer support, multiple water stations and professional medical cover, the event is known for its smooth organisation and welcoming atmosphere. All finishers receive a tech T‑shirt, bespoke medal, free race photos, and chip‑timed results, rounding off a race day that blends history, scenery, and strong PB potential into a memorable running experience.

The Sheffield Half Marathon 2026 is one of South Yorkshire’s biggest and most iconic running events, offering a city‑centre start and finish at Arundel Gate and attracting thousands of runners each year. The route is famously scenic, climbing towards Ringinglow and rewarding participants with majestic views of the Peak District before sweeping back into Sheffield for a lively city‑centre finish supported by enthusiastic crowds.

A standout feature of the race is its unique ‘triple test’, giving runners the chance to take on a timed hill climb, a fast 10K downhill sprint segment, and the main race itself. The MBNA Chester Marathon 2026 offers runners a scenic and historic route, starting and finishing at Chester Racecourse. The course takes you past famous city landmarks including Chester Cathedral, the Medieval Rows, the Roman Walls, the Amphitheatre, and the Eastgate Clock, before heading into the Cheshire and North Wales countryside for a rare multi‑country marathon experience. The final stretch along the River Dee provides an inspiring lead‑in to the finish.

With fully closed roads, enthusiastic local support, regular hydration and nutrition stations, and experienced pacers, the event is known for its excellent organisation and welcoming atmosphere. Great Birmingham Run Half Marathon

The Great Birmingham Half Marathon offers runners an exciting urban course that showcases the very best of the city. The race begins in Centenary Square and leads participants past many of Birmingham’s most loved landmarks, including the Jewellery Quarter, St Paul’s Square, the Mailbox, Grand Central, St Martin’s Church, Southside, and the creative streets of Digbeth. Mid‑race, the route opens out into the green spaces of Cannon Hill Park and Selly Park, giving runners a refreshing scenic stretch before heading back toward the city centre.

The atmosphere is electric throughout, with tens of thousands of supporters lining the course, ringing cowbells and offering encouragement all the way to the finish. One of the most iconic moments arrives late in the race as runners pass the striking Selfridges Building, signalling the final push toward the brand‑new festival‑style finish at Aston University.
