Great North Run

The Great North Run 2026 is the world’s biggest and most iconic half marathon, drawing 60,000 runners to its famous point‑to‑point route from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields. Participants begin in Newcastle before heading over the Tyne Bridge, through Gateshead, and onto a final, crowd‑filled mile along the South Shields seafront. The course blends fast downhill sections with some tougher uphill stretches between miles 8–12, all fuelled by incredible crowd support, on‑course entertainment, and the unforgettable fly‑past from the Red Arrows.
Celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2026, the event offers a festival‑like atmosphere from start to finish, from the famous oggy‑oggy‑oggy chants to the buzzing coastal finish line. Whether you’re chasing a PB or soaking up one of the UK’s best‑supported running events, the Great North Run delivers a memorable experience every step of the way.
MBNA Chester Marathon

The MBNA Chester Marathon 2026 offers runners a scenic and historic route, starting and finishing at Chester Racecourse. The course takes you past famous city landmarks including Chester Cathedral, the Medieval Rows, the Roman Walls, the Amphitheatre, and the Eastgate Clock, before heading into the Cheshire and North Wales countryside for a rare multi‑country marathon experience. The final stretch along the River Dee provides an inspiring lead‑in to the finish.
With fully closed roads, enthusiastic local support, regular hydration and nutrition stations, and experienced pacers, the event is known for its excellent organisation and welcoming atmosphere. All finishers receive a technical long‑sleeve top, bespoke medal, and goody bag, rounding off one of the UK’s most consistently praised marathon experiences.

This ever-growing festival of running is now a major event in the Scottish sporting calendar. Starting in Edinburgh, the course heads out through East Lothian offering stunning views and an unforgettable running experience.
The marathon route is one of the fastest in the UK making that elusive personal best a distinct possibility! Edinburgh Marathon joined the world’s elite road races in 2012 by becoming the first marathon in Scotland to be officially recognised by the IAAF, the athletics governing body. The IAAF bronze label puts the race among the top 75 in the world making it a pivotal part of the sporting calendar for runners.
The full weekend of events attracts around 30,000 runners, with thousands more lining the course to support. There are 9 races on offer over two days including the marathon, half marathon, team relay, 10k, 5k and junior races. There really is something for everyone, so why not make the most of the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Royal Parks Half Marathon offers runners a stunning 13.1‑mile journey through the heart of London, combining flat, fast roads with some of the city’s most iconic scenery. The route winds through four of London’s Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens and past world‑famous landmarks like Buckingham Palace, Horse Guards Parade, and views of the London Eye. It’s a uniquely scenic and uplifting course that blends vibrant city streets with peaceful parkland.
With fully closed roads, enthusiastic crowds, and a festival‑style event village in Hyde Park, runners can expect a brilliantly supported and thoroughly enjoyable race day atmosphere. From the lively cheer points along Serpentine Road to the refreshed double‑pass along The Mall, the experience feels both iconic and welcoming.
