Our Member Support Officer was honoured recently to meet some of the talented children who scooped top prize in this year’s Art4Eyes competition, which aimed to raise awareness with parents about the signs of Rb.
Hundreds of schools from across the UK entered CHECT’s Art4Eyes competition earlier this year, creating artwork based on the theme of eyes. Barlow Hall Primary School in Chorlton, Manchester, won the age 5-7 category and the Christian Fellowship School in Edge Hill, Liverpool, won the age 8-11 prize.
It was great to have some help from Sarah Hodgson, store manager at Vision Express Trafford centre branch join us to help make the presentations to the two schools – and many thanks also to Lauren Smedley, the Vision Express photographer!
The winning schools were treated to a professional photo shoot, thanks to the generosity of Clare Jennings, owner of Clara Lou Photography who gave up her time free of charge to offer this fantastic prize. We can’t wait to see the end results. They also received a supply of paints from Turners Art.
Every child who took part received a leaflet to take home to their parents explaining about the signs of Rb, so it was a great way of getting the message out to a new audience and we hope to run another competition in the future.
Graham said that It was great to meet all the talented artists in person.
