Raising awareness about important health conditions can be both educational and fun, as Tobias’ preschool recently demonstrated. In an effort to support Tobias and spread awareness of retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer, the school organised a special Crazy Glasses Day. The event was filled with creativity, learning, and a lot of fun, as the children engaged in activities designed to help them better understand Tobias’ experience. Here’s a look at the day’s highlights and how it helped make a difference:

Mum Emma says, ‘Tobias’ preschool ran a Crazy Glasses day on Tuesday 27th August to raise awareness of Retinoblastoma and how the condition affects Tobias day-to-day. Children were encouraged to bring their own funky glasses in in the morning – designs ranged from watermelons to pizzas, stars to hearts – and they then created their own designs using paint, glitter, tissue paper and silly string, using the templates available on the CHECT website. They then had a dance party to show off the glasses, and spent some time explaining to the children that Tobias was blind in one eye, getting them to cover one of their own to help them better understand how he sees. There was lots of fun, games and balloons, and this all helped to raise £50.50’.

A huge thank you from all of us at CHECT for your brilliant awareness and fundraising!
