Optrafair is a huge optical exhibition which attracts around 7,000 visitors over three days. It brings together practitioners, suppliers and educators to help eye care professionals expand their knowledge, grow awareness of new products and services, continue their education and develop their businesses.

This year, CHECT has been given the amazing opportunity to have a stand at Optrafair for free.

We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to bring our stunning awareness campaign to thousands of optometrists, dispensing opticians, student opticians and optical businesses.

Most of you will have already seen the interactive posters with their innovative print technology, and many of you have been busy sharing the accompanying video through your networks. At the time of writing, the video has been viewed an incredible 875,000 times, in the UK and globally! So thank you to everyone who has helped us to reach this landmark figure.

Marketing agency Wunderman are helping CHECT to expand the reach of the campaign by creating four banners, based on the original poster campaign, that we can take out to exhibitions and events. The banners, using the same reflective ink as the posters, will create an interesting, interactive experience to bring visitors to our stand, where we can talk to them in more detail about retinoblastoma and what they can do to help. Delegates at this year’s Optrafair 18-20 April 2015 will have the opportunity to experience the technology for themselves at the CHECT stand B12.

This is also a great opportunity to speak with the optician industry about the importance of all staff in optical practices being aware of the main signs of Rb, and having the ability to advise parents that their child should be examined urgently, if the optometrist is unable to.

So in addition to talking to eye care professionals about Rb in general, Optrafair also gives us the perfect opportunity to get even more stores signed up to our Opticians Protocol, and to support our awareness raising activities during World Rb Awareness Week (10 – 16 May 2015).
